Spring is officially upon us and warmer temperatures will soon be here to stay. One of the best things about the spring season is the multitude of events and activities that are held. Getting out and partaking in scheduled events provides a whole new level to the OBX experience.

We can’t think of a better way to kick those ‘winter blues’ to the curb, so we’ve compiled a list including some of the most popular events scheduled  for this spring 2018 in the Outer Banks.

 

Easter Eggstravaganza 2018
March 31, 2018

Known as “The largest egg scavenger hunt on the beach,” Easter at Elizabethan Gardens offers several activities for both kids and parents to enjoy. Hunt for thousands of hidden eggs – some including special prizes, participate in egg spoon races or perhaps the hat contest, enjoy musical acts and dancers plus a special visit from Sir Walter “Peter” Wabbit! There will also be make and take crafts and  an egg roll race! Show up with your own Easter Basket for collecting eggs and prizes. The Gardens will open at 10am on this day for the Eggstravaganza. Members/Friends: Free. Non- Members: With a paying adult one child will be admitted free; One Child (under 5) admitted free with each paying adult. For info or details, call 252-473-3234.

 

5th Annual Duck Merchants Association’s Easter Egg Hunt
March 31, 2018

On the hunt for something fun to do that’s also rewarding? This event in the beautiful Village of Duck might just be the perfect activity for you! Participants are sure to have fun hunting for eggs while also supporting local businesses that stretch along the main road through the Village. This fun event is put on by the Duck Merchants Association every year. Details can be found on their Facebook page and at participating merchants all throughout town!

 

Fly Into Spring Kite Festival
March 30, 2018 – March 31, 2018

The immaculate sand dunes of Jockey’s Ridge State Park will soon be decorated with high-flying kites – something you don’t want to miss! Load up the kids, a camera, and don’t forget the easter baskets, and head over to Jockey’s Ridge Crossing at Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head for an all-around good time on the dunes. The Easter Bunny will be hanging out for pictures as well! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better…this event is FREE to the public!

 

Alligator River Refuge Open-Air Tram Tour
April 14, 2018

Enjoy this unique opportunity to explore some of the fascinating Outer Banks wildlife in their natural habitat. Hop aboard the Alligator River Refuge Open-Air Tram where a tour guide will point out wildlife and will talk about plants, animals, and the history of the refuge during your ride. You’ll even get to stop and observe the wildlife when spotted! Reservations recommended but not required. $10 for riders 13 & up. 12 and under ride free with paying/supervising adult.

 

Dare County Relay For Life
May 5, 2018

Join several community volunteers taking action against cancer. This signature fundraiser event for the American Cancer Society is geared to bring the community together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer. KidsFest
May 11, 2018

From young children all the way to grandparents, there’s lots of fun to be had for the whole family at this exciting festival! The 11th Annual KidsFest will take place at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo. This free event will feature lots of fun and games, play activities, entertainment, exploration, and art.

Activities Include:

– Bubbles

– Corn Hole

– Ice Cream & Snowballs

– Fire Truck & Police Cars

– Crafts & More

WOOFstock 2018
May 12, 2018

This family event is geared for those with two legs and four and offers a lot to howl about! You certainly don’t want to miss this year’s two-day event of peace, love and dogs! There will be lots of local fur-loving exhibitors and activities for your entire family along with music, pet-health and happiness related exhibitors and concessions available for both dogs and humans. Funds from this event will support The Elizabethan Gardens and Outer Banks SPCA (OBSPCA).

The Outer Banks offers countless amounts of activities each season.
