Corolla is a favorite vacation spot for families on the Outer Banks.  It is also ideal second home location as well. It is a family-friendly spot and has a variety of activities for kids to enjoy with their families and friends. Check out this list of some of the best activities for kids while in Corolla.

Beach Days

Have fun with the kids while enjoying the nature and relaxing on the beaches that Corolla is known for. There are several public beach accesses in Corolla such as the Corolla Village Road and Shad Street accesses. You can also travel to the northernmost part of the Outer Banks, Carova Beach, where there is only access with four-wheel-drive vehicles to drive on the beach. 

Horse Tours

Corolla, along with Carova, is known for wild horses. The state horse, wild Colonial Spanish Mustangs, can be found walking along the beaches here. You can also take a tour to see and learn more about the horses. Several companies, such as Corolla Wild Horse Tours, Bob’s Wild Horse Tours, and Wild Horse Adventure Tours, offer wild horse tours and provide great opportunities for you to see wild horses with your family.

Aerial Adventure Park

Just opened in June, the Corolla Adventure Park, which is the largest aerial adventure park on the Outer Banks, will be an exciting venue to take the whole family. The park has been created for ages 5 and above. There is a variety of obstacles and zip lines for families to enjoy. The courses are ideal for different skill levels as well.

Bike Rides

Biking is a great way to enjoy nature while seeing much of Corolla. Corolla, like a lot of the Outer Banks, is very bike-friendly and has great sites to see with kids. A primary bike path in Corolla is about 10 miles long and will allow bike riders to see main sites such as the Whalehead Club and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.

Mini-Golf and Bumper Cars

Corolla Adventure Golf is a great attraction that offers a 27-hole mini-golf course as well as bumper cars. The mini-golf course is also based on Corolla. Enjoy different options to have fun with your kids while at Corolla Adventure Golf.

Skateboarding

Island Revolution Surf Co & Skatepark is a great place to take kids while in Corolla. It features a skate park and skate clinics as well. The concrete park was designed by Mark Corbett, a local to the Outer Banks. The company also has surfing and paddleboarding lessons and tours.

Watersports

There are many watersports to enjoy while on the Outer Banks. You can take kids on a variety of adventures from kayaking to jet ski trips. Enjoy seeing the beautiful nature in Corolla while trying different watersports that are offered.

Currituck Beach Lighthouse

The Currituck Beach Lighthouse is a great way to learn more about the history of the Outer Banks with kids. You can climb the lighthouse with your family and enjoy a walk by the sound at the Currituck Heritage Park.
