Corolla is one of the best places to live and vacation on the Outer Banks. There is a variety of community activities in Corolla during the summer. Check out this list below and look for some unique events and activities for your family and friends to enjoy this summer!

Mustang Spring Jam

On May 20th, enjoy rock and roll, funk and blues at the Seventh Annual Mustang Spring Jam. The event will also feature various local vendors with tons of fun for everyone. The music festival starts at 12:30 p.m. at Mike Dianna’s Grill Room in Timbuck II Shopping Village in Corolla. The festival will feature five national touring bands playing nonstop live music from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Best of all, the proceeds benefit Corolla’s most precious asset, The Corolla Wild Horse Fund. Tickets for the event can be purchased online or at Trio in Kitty Hawk and Mike Dianna’s Grill Room in Corolla. Enjoy a day of fun and support Corolla’s wild horses!

Memorial Day Beach Blast

This Memorial Day weekend, you can gather up the family for a day filled with beach music and fun in the Historic Corolla Park. The event will run from 12pm to 5pm on May 27th in Corolla and is free for everyone. You don’t want to miss the opening performances by the new OBX band, Jeremy & the Generations, made up of favorite local Outer Banks artists! If you’ve gotten lucky enough to attend any weddings where they performed, then you know first-hand that Jeremy & the Generations are top notch, bringing the life to every party! Following the opening performances is funky headliner, The Blackwater Rhythm & Blues Band from Clarkton, NC.  Bring your beach chairs, relax, dance and enjoy the fun by the sound in Corolla!

Whalehead Wednesdays

Join Sanctuary Vineyards, Vineyards on the Scuppernong and the Weeping Radish Brewery for local wine and beer tastings in the breathtaking and peaceful setting of Historic Corolla Park. Enjoy live music and family friendly activities every Wednesday from May 30th to September 12th. Upon admission, you can sip on samples of featured wines in a take-home souvenir wine glass. Bring your chair, blanket and the entire family (pets on a leash are also welcome!) to enjoy local live music while the beautiful sun sets over the Currituck Sound! Local food will be available for purchase. Whalehead Wednesdays are free for non-drinking adults and children. 

Under the Oaks Art Festival

On June 19th and June 20th, the annual Under the Oaks Art Festival will be held in the Historic Corolla Park at the Whalehead Club. The 17th annual event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. The event features a variety of beautiful art and vibrant crafts. Local food will be available, and an art auction will be conducted. Admission is free for everyone. Visitors are welcome to bring along the beach blankets and chairs to relax and enjoy the scene after perusing the goods. A unique experience that showcases some of the best arts and crafts that the Outer Banks region has to offer, this festival serves as a great opportunity to pick up some local treasures that are truly one-of-a-kind. Corolla Festival of Fireworks

The 26th Annual Independence Day Celebration in Corolla will take place on July 4. There are many fun activities for family and friends. The event will kick off at 3pm with children’s games, activities, and food vendors. Live music starts at 5pm, followed by a spectacular fireworks show at dusk. Join the community in Historic Corolla Park to celebrate America’s independence July 4.

Mustang Rock & Roast

Two North Carolina culinary favorites will be celebrated on October 13th and October 14th at the inaugural Mustang Rock & Roast. Enjoy lots of music, oysters and barbecue from 2pm-10pm each day. The event will feature an outdoor oyster roast, pork barbecue cook-off and nonstop live music on the main stage from at least 12 national, regional and local performers, as well as student bands from the Mustang Outreach Program. Advance, day of show and special VIP tickets will be available for the inaugural Mustang Rock and Roast. The VIP tickets will provide the ultimate guest experience with upscale meals, beverage tickets and special event access. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund and the Mustang Outreach Program. The Corolla Wild Horse Fund protects, conserves, and responsibly manages the herd of wild Colonial Spanish Mustangs roaming freely on the northernmost Currituck Outer Banks. The Mustang Outreach Program supplements the cultural arts programs in local schools with world class music performances, residencies and mentoring programs.
