The main marathon event extends from Kitty Hawk to Manteo, on a 26.2 mile course that takes you past many Outer Banks landmarks. You will run through a portion of Nags Head Woods, pass by Jockey’s Ridge, the Wright Brothers Memorial, and more. Perhaps the most breathtaking part (Literally- It is a 650′ climb to the top at a 4% grade) of the course is when you cross over the Washington Baum Bridge to begin the final few miles into downtown Manteo.
The Half Marathon will start on E. Baltic Street at Wrightsville Avenue in Nags Head. Runners will be starting at the halfway point on the Marathon Course and ending at the same location in downtown Manteo. The Southern 6 race will also join marathon and half marathon runners at the finish line, but these participants will start their journey at the Tanger Outlet Center in Nags Head.
The TowneBank Southern Fried Half Marathon Awards Ceremony will start at 10:30 and the TowneBank Marathon Awards Ceremony will kick off at 12:15 on Queen Elizabeth Street in Manteo.
Runners can relax and celebrate at the Post Race Southern Fried Block Party until 2:30 with live music and refreshments. After the party, return shuttles from Manteo will bring you back to your car post-race.
