Its spring on the Outer Banks, and Easter is just around the corner. This is a great time to visit the Outer Banks as the weather is getting warmer and the crowds haven’t arrived yet. On top of that, there are tons of great activities happening during Easter weekend, from special church services and brunches to Easter egg hunts galore. Check out our favorite Easter events here:
Easter Eggstravaganza at Elizabethan Gardens
The Elizabethan Gardens in Manteo will be holding their annual Easter celebration on April 15th. The event will include an Easter egg hunt, egg spoon race, hat contest, musical acts, dancers, a visit with Peter Wabbit, crafts, prizes and more! They ask that you bring your own basket for collecting eggs, admission to the gardens and this event is free for a child with a paying adult.
Sea Turtle Egg Hunt
An Easter egg hunt, and an educational event about one of our local endangered species. Bring the kids (ages 3-7) to the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island for this egg hunt and sea turtle program. They will make a craft to take home, come face to face with a loggerhead turtle, and get to hunt for eggs. The event is $15 and will be held on Saturday, April 15th with one session at 11am and another at 1pm.
Kitty Hawk Kites “Fly Into Spring” & Easter Eggstravaganza
Kitty Hawk Kites will be having an Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Bunny photo opportunity at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15. Across the highway at Jockey’s Ridge State Park there will be kite flying demos and kite flying lessons! They have separate egg hunts for 3 different age groups of children, visit their website here for more information.
Nags Head Police Department Easter Egg Hunt
Bring the kids and their Easter baskets to the Nags Head Town Park for this annual egg hunt. There will be separate hunts for kids 1-5 and 6-10. There will also be free car seat checks, and fire engine and police car tours. The event takes place Saturday, April 15th at 10am.
Kelly’s Adult Easter Egg Hunt
A different type of Easter egg hunt, this event begins at 9:30pm on Sunday, April 16th with live music at Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant and Tavern. Easter Bunny “Kelly” will arrive at 11pm to begin the egg hunt outside. Bring a flashlight and a basket or bag for your rewards.
