See the Local Christmas Lights
Spend a night out exploring the Christmas lights in our community. Observe the lights from your car, or some homes are set up for you to get out of your vehicle and explore the displays. The Poulos Family house is the most popular Outer Banks “Christmas House” and you won’t do your visit there justice unless you do get out and explore. They have a many different stations setup, moving trains, and the most stuffed animals you have ever seen all tucked into the garage. You can find the Poulous House at the end of Ocean Acres Drive in Nags Head.
Another fun home light display is found at 206 Clamshell Drive in Kill Devil Hills. At this home you can turn your car radio to 107.9 to hear the music playing along with the light show. Bring a few canned goods and get out of your car to explore and make a donation to the Beach Food Pantry.
Visit the Whalehead Club
Plan your visit to the Whalehead Club during their Christmas Candlelight Tour. Held on December 16 and 17 at 6pm, you will tour the historic home and listen to live performances, caroling, and receive refreshments. You will also have the opportunity to preview the new Starkley Room exhibit and see other new acquisitions. Be sure to register in advance at VisitCurrituck.com/Events.
Attend the 113th Annual Wright Brothers Celebration
Celebrate the Wright Brothers achievement of flight along with the 100th anniversary of the United States Coast Guard Aviation. This day-long event on December 17th will include ceremonies, an aviation flyover, tours of exhibits and the visitor center, and more. Don’t miss this exciting celebration!
